Happy Monday!
As you read the title of this blog post, I am sure you are excited to find out if the dress you have chosen is the “ONE.”
Before we go any further, what is the “ONE” to you? Is it the perfect fit, the style you’ve always dreamed of, the perfect color, or all of the above?
Well, we will get into it as this is an individual question that only YOU can answer! Our goal here is to AVOID buyers remorse! So, let us get straight into it.
To keep things candid, the feeling of knowing your dress is the “ONE” may be a myth. Well, at least until your wedding day. So, do not feel like the dress you chose is not the best choice based off of a feeling that everyone does not get. Instead, I will walk you through 2 scenarios that many brides find themselves in. Then, I will tell you how you will be able to tell if your dress is the “ONE.”
1. You think you found the dress or two
The day you dreamed of has finally come, WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING DAY! You have thousands of dresses saved to your pinterest board and camera roll. You feel over prepared for this! Now, it is time to explain to your wedding dress consultant the style you are going for. Be very specific and show pictures! Your consultant will then make a handful or two of selections for you to try on.
That was easy wasn’t it? Well, everything is going well until you fall in love with two dresses. Now, if you are the bride that wants to wear a different dress during the reception, this is a great scenario for you. But, if you are like most brides, you only want one wedding dress. So, how can you tell which of the two is the “ONE?”
The best advice I’ve received when it comes to wedding dress shopping is not to feel pressured to make a decision the minute you like/love a dress, or at the first bridal shop you visit. Do not make an impulsive buy unless you are sure one of the dresses made you feel absolutely better than the other one. Tell your consultant you would like to take the time to sleep on it, and try it on again for the second time, or a third time. This is very common and they will understand and sometimes suggest that you take this time to think. This is a huge purchase and everyone wants you to be happy with your choice. So, take your time!
2. You picked a dress and now you see new appealing dresses everyday
You went dress shopping and fell in love with a dress! CONGRATULATIONS! But, now as you scroll through social media looking at brides in dresses that look absolutely stunning, you begin to second guess your choice. This is what we as brides will call “the dreaded buyers remorse.” A bride’s worst nightmare or a figment of her imagination?
Let us take a moment to get real….. you cannot try on every single dress! I repeat… YOU CANNOT TRY ON EVERY SINGLE DRESS! This would be a complete waste of your time, and honestly does not sound fun. So, relax!
Remember those dresses you saved in your Pinterest board thinking they will be the one, and when you tried them on they did not look how you imagined it would look…. this is the same thing. That bride looked stunning in the dress she picked because that dress for her, was the “ONE.” The dress you fell in love with and chose will have another bride thinking you look stunning and your dress is definitely the “ONE” for YOU! You see where I am going with this? Two different brides, two different venues, two different bodies, two different styles. Trust yourself! You know what you look great in and it is the dress you already chose! Now rock it with confidence, so we can talk about how stunning you look!
3. How do you know it is the “ONE?”
Once again, the “feeling” of knowing a dress is the one at the bridal shop may be a myth. In my experience, it did not happen initially. I knew the dress I chose was the one after I tried it on for a THIRD time. Yes, I needed three tries to solidify that feeling lol. Actually, I am glad I did, because I left the bridal salon feeling extremely excited about getting married.
So, do not panic if you still did not get that feeling. The feeling may come initially, after a few tries, or on your wedding day. You just have to trust that you made the right decision based on how you felt when you had the dress on. That is the most important gauge of knowing when the dress is the “ONE”…. HOW YOU FEEL IN IT! So, relax and prepare for your big day, because you are going to look absolutely GORGEOUS!
I hope this post was able to help you calm your nerves about knowing when the wedding dress you chose is the “ONE.” Us brides must stick together and help each other out lol. So, cheers to finding the perfect dress!
See you soon!
