Welcome to my first official “Five Star Friday⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️” review! The first book I will highlight as a five star read is The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose. My only intention with Five Star Friday reviews are to convince you to read a great book WITHOUT SPOILERS!!!!! So, let’s jump right in!
Rating – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice – 🌶🌶
Genre – Thriller
What is this book about?
The Perfect Marriage starts by showing the dynamic between Sarah Morgan and Adam Morgan. Sarah is an attorney and the breadwinner of their two person family (no children). Adam is an aspiring writing who is currently unemployed. To no ones surprise, they struggle with finding time to spend together. Adam decides to spend his time with another woman that somehow ends up dead. To the world, Adam was the last person his now deceased girlfriend was with. Sarah being his wife, assumes the role of being his attorney. From the moment Sarah becomes Adam’s attorney we are left with a few questions. Did Adam kill his girlfriend? How can Sarah defend the man who betrayed her? Does Sarah believe Adam is innocent? Could there have been someone else who wanted to hurt Adam’s girlfriend? If these are questions that pique your interest, I highly suggest you read this book.
What made me want to read this book?
I will be completely honest, my initial thoughts were “ain’t no way in h*ll I’m defending a man who decided to cheat on me, because if he can cheat and lie, he might be capable of killing.” That may be a little extreme, but I could not wrap my head around her wanting to defend him. So, I needed to see this story through, and I must say I am glad I did! This story takes you through every emotion a woman feels when she is betrayed, and on the flip side every emotion someone may feel IF (keyword IF) they are accused of something they did not do. Both sides were equally displayed through Jeneva’s excellent storytelling.
The ending
Since I vowed to not provide any spoilers, let’s skip to the ending! If you did not listen to anything I said above, please listen when I say this….. THE ENDING IS COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE! If you are tired of predictable endings, this is NOT that! If you enjoy reading books where your predictions are wrong, this IS that! The twists, turns, and surprises are unmatched!
Who would I recommend this book to?
In conclusion, who would I recommend this book to? ANYONE! As a romance girlie, I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller. The details were not too gory. The story was relatable as far as betrayal and working through forgiveness. How both Morgan and Adam’s friends and family rallied behind them seemed believable. All around, this book is relatable (infidelity NOT the murder), well-written, and had a shocking ending, all criteria needed to make for a great book!
I hope with this review it piques your interest to read it!
